Blue Berry
This strain is a real looker! The Blue Berry CBD flower is very popular and looks just like a blue berry. It is a flavor-forward indica hybrid with a strong genetic makeup. Blue Berry is a cross between sativa Thai, an indica Afghani parent and Purple Thai parent. The origin story of Blue Berry is a fun one, it really adds to mystery of the strain. It was first developed in the 1970 or 1980’s by DJ Short. Better known as the ‘Willy Winka’ of cannabis. In case of the Blue Berry strain, looks are not deceiving. Because apart from the looks, it also smells and tastes like a blue berry. This popular strain has also won top marks in the 2000 High Times Cannabis Cup for Best Indica and Best Strain overall. Blue Berry has a CBD content of 14.60% and a THC content of <0.07%.
As one might expect of an indica dominant strain, the flowers are densely packed. The leaves are a beautiful forrest green with spicks of purple and red, these colors are achieved due to the high concentrations of pigment (anthocyanins). Because of the colder temperatures the strain has to endure during the growing period, the pigments are being activated. Bringing out wonderful Blue Berry colors. The trichomes on the leaves are almost transparant, so upon first glance, it may be harder to notice in comparison to other resinous strains. Eventhough the trichomes are transparent, the buds are very sticky. So incredibly sticky they are hard to break up by hand, so it is advisable to use a grinder. Once you bought a bag of Blue Berry CBD flowers, the awesomeness isn’t just limited by the looks. Upon opening the bag, a waft of fruity blue berries will tickle your nose. Once you’ve opened the buds up, a more complex smell starts tickling your nose with hints of spice and musk. Although it is lingering more towards the indica side, it is surprisingly smooth with a blue berry tast on inhale and exhale.
It is possible to grow Blue Berry as a clone, but only if the clippings are from mature and (also very important) healthy plants. A simpeler choice would be to buy and plant seeds. The creator of blueberry, DJ Short has legal claim over the strain, however he has no control once the seeds have been sold. Which makes it easy for competitors to experiment with it’s genetics and create a new subtype under their own brand. It is possible to grow Blue Berry outdoors and indoors. However, as with most strains, if blueberry is grown outdoors, growers must comply with it’s restrictive conditioners like moderate humidity and consistent daytime temperatures. They are also well suited for indoor cultivation as the strain grows short and bushy, almost never bigger then 3,5 feet in hight.
